What is Subscription (CSA)?

Grazing Days sells quality grass-fed Angus beef, pastured pork, and pastured chicken by direct delivery in the Ottawa-Gatineau region using subscriptions. Customers place and pay for their orders in the spring. The order is then home-delivered starting in the fall, until June of next year.

This subscription model is called community shared agriculture (CSA) and it is sometimes also called community-supported agriculture.

A Subscription (CSA) customer places an order for a certain quantity of meat in advance of receiving the meat (usually at the beginning of the growing season). This allows the customer to reserve their annual portion of the farm’s production (1/8th of a cow or 8 whole chickens as an example) which is then delivered over the course of the next delivery season in one lump sum delivery, or several smaller deliveries.

The sale of subscriptions allows the farmers to focus on farming, without having to live with the uncertainty of not knowing whether all of the year’s production will be sold. Subscriptions (CSA) give farms the stability to farm well, act ecologically, and produce better-tasting and more nutritious food.

What is Order by the Cut?

The beauty of Ordering by the Cut is that you get exactly what you pay for. All items are sold by weight.

Think about Order by the Cut as an online butcher shop for all the different cuts of meat available from our farm.

Simply take the following steps:

1. Add the items you want to your shopping cart,
2. Select your delivery or pick-up date during the checkout process,
3. Pay for your order once we've packed it and adjusted your invoice to reflect the actual weight of the meat you ordered,
4. Be ready to receive your order on the specified delivery or pick-up date.
