Serves: 4
Prep Time: 15 min | Cook Time: 1 hr

Ingredients:

  • 500g ground beef

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

  • 1 onion, finely chopped

  • 1 carrot, grated

  • 1 celery stalk, finely chopped

  • 2 garlic cloves, minced

  • 2 tbsp tomato paste

  • 1 can (796 ml) crushed tomatoes

  • 1 tsp dried oregano or Italian seasoning

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • Optional: splash of red wine

  • Pasta and Parmesan to serve

Instructions:

  1. Heat oil in a pot. Sauté onion, carrot, celery, and garlic for 5–7 min.

  2. Add beef. Cook until browned. Stir in tomato paste and cook 1 min more.

  3. Add tomatoes, milk, herbs, and wine if using. Simmer uncovered for 45–60 min, stirring occasionally.

  4. Season to taste. Serve over pasta with grated cheese.

🐄 Grass-fed Tip: Grass-fed ground beef is very flavourful, leaner and more nutrient-dense. Don’t overcook it — medium heat is best. Adding moisture (milk, tomato, broth) helps retain tenderness.
