Ferme Grazing Days Farm Communications and Marketing Director

Term: Permanent – Part time (8 hours per week)

Salary: $30 per Hour

Location: From home, at the farm in St-André-Avellin, QC one day a month

Start Date: Immediate

 

Ferme Grazing Days Farm is a family farm focused on regenerating soils and combating climate change through innovative and adaptive grazing and animal husbandry techniques. The farm is located in St-André-Avellin, QC (one hour outside of Ottawa / Gatineau, and 90 minutes outside of Montreal) and currently supplies 500 households with grass-fed beef, pastured pork, and pastured chicken.

Ferme Grazing Days Farm sells its farm goods through an e-commerce website. Since we do not have a physical store front, we need to have consistent and clear communication with our current and would-be customers to establish and maintain a close relationship with the households who eat the meat we raise.

 

 

Description of the Job:

 

Fundamentally, the successful candidate will be asked to present, represent and embody Grazing Days values, ethics and purpose in their work. The overarching objective of their work will be to help design and implement a multi-pronged communication and marketing approach with our current and future customer base.

 

The purpose of the communication part of the role is to increase people’s understanding of what happens at Grazing Days farm and to feel good about purchasing meat from the farm.

 

Specific communication tasks may include:

 

  • Conduct polls and surveys with existing eaters / followers to find out what information is interesting or sought after
  • Develop and follow a communications calendar
  • Identify and describe photos and videos needed for communication
  • Write a regular general newsletter
  • Write and schedule posts on facebook / instagram/ youtube / google business profile
  • Write Blog posts for the website

 

The purpose of the marketing part of the role is to allow Grazing Days to provide their regenerative meats to more eaters. All this should be done in the optic of increasing profitability and enhancing the farm’s ability to regenerate land and sequester carbon.

 

Specific marketing tasks may include

  • Conduct polls and surveys with existing eaters / followers to discover reasons why people purchase meat from Grazing Days
  • Design annual promotion & launch calendar
  • Develop effective Lead Magnets and marketing funnels
  • Design and write welcome email series
  • Think about and procure relevant merch.
  • Analyze whether or not affiliate marketing is worth exploring for Grazing Days and if so, implement
  • Effectively share when new products are available – which includes new product photos and descriptions for the Grazing Days website

Qualifications:

The right candidate for this job:

  • Is Skilled in the art of direct response, email and social media copywriting
  • Understands the health, environmental, and community benefits of grass-fed and pasture raised meats
  • Is capable of understanding the vision and direction of a project and running with it.
  • Is highly motivated and a self starter
  • Is bilingual in both oral and written French and English
  • Is familiar with culture in Montreal and/or Ottawa/Gatineau
  • Has the ability to travel to the farm monthly during the growing season
  • Has experience with photography and video production (an asset, not required)
  • A feminist

 

Remuneration:

This is a part time position of approximately 8 hours per week. The pay will be $30 per hour.
