How to Cook Round Steak — Two Recipes

Cut Details: Two steaks per pack, 1” thick. Package weighs 400–600g. Lean and firm, from the hind leg.
Best For: Marinating and slicing for stir-fry, or slow braising for tenderness.


🍳 Quick & Easy — Marinated Round Steak Stir-Fry

Serves: 2–3
Prep Time: 15 min (plus 4 hr marinate) | Cook Time: 10 min

Ingredients:

  • 2 round steaks (400–600g)

  • 2 tbsp soy sauce

  • 1 tbsp olive oil or sesame oil

  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar or lime juice

  • 1 tsp honey or maple syrup

  • 2 garlic cloves, minced

  • 1 tsp cornstarch (optional)

  • 2 cups sliced vegetables (e.g., peppers, broccoli, onion)

Instructions:

  1. Slice steaks thinly across the grain.

  2. Marinate meat in soy, oil, vinegar, garlic, and honey for at least 4 hours.

  3. Heat pan over medium-high. Sauté meat for 2–3 min. Remove.

  4. Stir-fry vegetables 4–5 min. Return beef to pan.

  5. Serve with rice or noodles.


🍷 Slow & Savoury — Round Steak Braised in Tomato

Serves: 2–3
Prep Time: 15 min | Cook Time: 2 hrs

Ingredients:

  • 2 round steaks

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

  • 1 onion, chopped

  • 2 garlic cloves, minced

  • 1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes

  • ½ cup beef broth

  • 1 tsp oregano

  • ½ tsp chili flakes (optional)

  • Salt and pepper

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 300°F.

  2. Brown steaks in oil. Remove.

  3. Sauté onion and garlic 5 min. Add tomatoes, broth, and seasoning.

  4. Return steaks to pan. Cover and braise in oven for 2 hrs until tender.

  5. Serve over polenta or mashed potatoes.
