We have some exciting news to share to start off 2025 with a good dose of purpose.
Grazing Days has entered into a partnership with Parkdale Food Centre (PFC) to create a Farm-to-Table Fund that allows us, at Grazing Days, to collect donations for PFC. These funds will go to Parkdale for the purchase of Grazing Days meats to support their programs.
From now until February 10th 2025, we aim to sign up 100 monthly donors to donate $10 per month - roughly equivalent to 1 package of ground beef per month. Sign up to donate a package of Grazing Days ground beef per month today: https://www.canadahelps.org/en/dn/124847 - be sure to select the monthly donation option on the link.
Currently Parkdale Food Centre goes through roughly 600 to 700 packages of ground beef per month meat valued at more than $7000 per month. – for context, this totals about 18 cattle worth of meat per year. Our initial goal with the Farm-to-Table Fund is to raise 1000$ a month and deliver 100 packages of ground beef to their door monthly. We can do this if 100 people make monthly donations of 10$ —10$ being the approximate at cost value of 1 package of ground beef, the product of ours that PFC most wants and needs.
(We can’t wait to share with you what our dream iteration of this partnership looks like in the future. Stay tuned for that.)
With our Farm-to-Table Fund, people will receive an income tax receipt at the end of the year, which we haven’t been able to offer with Affordability Fund donations. For its part, the Parkdale Food Centre will be able to offer local, grass-fed ground beef, including a Halal ground beef option, which is a rare foodstuff that PFC has been quite eager to offer.
This is a pilot project that Parkdale is testing out. If it is successful, we are hoping to convince the Ottawa Food Bank to adopt a model like this to increase our impact city-wide with many more farms.
If you can, please join us in supporting access to healthy, local pastured meats by making a monthly donation of 1 package of ground beef – 10$/month – to our Farm-to-Table Fund. https://www.canadahelps.org/en/dn/124847
We got into farming because we wanted to grow healthy, nutritious, and sustainable food for our community all the while stewarding land through regenerative agricultural practices. This partnership feeds our purpose, will feed the land, and feed our neighbours. Thank you for helping us bring this project to fruition.
